Abstract

This research is part of an implementation experience of the Ñe'êry Program of the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) at Elementary School No. 142 "María Felicidad González," located in the terminal area of Asunción, Paraguay. The study was conducted using an action research approach with the purpose of strengthening communicative competence, reading comprehension, and textual production through short story narratives. The sample consisted of 198 students from both cycles: 91 from the first cycle and 107 from the second cycle of Basic School Education (EEB). The pedagogical intervention included active reading strategies, dramatization, rewriting, and oral production in Guaraní and Spanish, based on the official materials of the Ñe'êry Program. Among the most relevant results, a significant improvement was observed in student participation, reading enjoyment, and written and oral expression skills. This experience reaffirms the value of active and contextualized methodologies in public education settings. The paper concludes with a reflection on the importance of language as a vehicle for identity and meaningful learning in multilingual contexts.
